2nd grade students created still life pastel drawings. The showed value in their vases and were inspired by the flower in vase paintings of Vincent van Gogh. The students loved working with the messy pastels. These turned out great and the kids can't wait to take them home.
2nd grade students studied Cubism and the artist Pablo Picasso. Cubism is an art movement where forms are flattened into geometric shapes. Many angles of an object can be seen. Think about all the views of a face. What would that look like? Find out when students bring home their Cubist Portraits. Look at all the great artwork! This week all elementary students participated in an Albion Elementary tradition, creating paper snowflakes. The first week after holiday break each student cuts two paper snowflakes, one to decorate the art room, and one to take home. My favorite part is watching the amazement on some of the students faces as they unfold their snowflake.
